Take control of your business by firing worthless clients

Everybody who runs a business that provides services to clients knows that if you don’t meet expectations, you will be fired. In fact, even people who don’t manage their own company have probably been in situations where they are a client who has decided to terminate a business relationship (for instance, have you ever canceled a cell phone contract because the bills were getting out of control?). But what happens when the situation is reversed, and you find yourself dealing with a client who is making you miserable? First, you need to start with the contract that you signed with the client. (You did remember to draw up a contract, right?) It should clearly state what work will be done, a timeline for completion and a total project cost. That information, signed by both parties, can be your savior when dealing with difficult clients. However, you must be aware that the same document can also bind you to be liable for what you have agreed to do — so think carefully before pulling the plug in the middle of a project. You could be stuck having to refund payment and risk litigation if you do not handle the breakup professionally.
