ST. PETERSBURG, FL- Salt Elements, providing all-natural dry salt therapy for skin and lungs, is officially open on Tyrone Boulevard in St. Petersburg. In the first facility of its kind in St. Petersburg, Salt Elements provides therapy by delivering natural salt, an essential element valued and used for thousands of years, in aerosol form.

“Almost anyone suffering from skin conditions such as eczema or acne, or respiratory issues like colds or allergies can find relief here”, said Bill Mayfield, co-owner of Salt Elements.

In the mid 1800s, Dr. Feliks Boczkowski, a physician at Poland’s Wieliczka salt mine noticed an absence of respiratory disease among salt miners. That simple discovery led to the development of the world’s first underground salt therapy center approximately nine stories underground in the Wieliczka Salt Mine in Poland. That salt therapy center is still in existence. Salt therapy is in wide use in nine different countries in Europe and now in the United States.

In the 1980s, a special device was developed that recreates the atmosphere of salt mines and naturally occurring salt caves. These devices are known as halogenerators and facilities such as Salt Elements have them in specially configured rooms, booths, and beds. Hence, dry salt therapy is also known as halotherapy.

Halogenerators are loaded with pharmaceutical grade salt with no iodine or other chemicals added, and converted to aerosol form. It is NOT table salt.

Salt Elements is located at 3831 Tyrone Blvd. N, Suite 101 in St. Petersburg. For more information, visit www.saltelements.com or call Bill or Jo Mayfield at (727)873-7979.
